The intricate waste and ventilation system at Immokalee Jail consists of more than 4,500 feet of cast-iron piping.

B & I plumbers are installing the 1250-gallon concrete grease interceptors.

The four grease interceptors will trap and contain grease waste, preventing it from entering the public sewer system.
Floor Flush Drain
This "floor flush drain" contains a flushing device similar to those found on commercial toilets. They are installed in the prison cells where frequent clean-up is required.
Floor Flush Control Valve
The control valve for the floor flush drain will be enclosed in a vandal-proof steel box, accesible only to the prison guards.
Lavatory Plumbing Chase in the Gang Bath
The water supply, drain pipes, and supports for the prison sinks are inside this chase. (See lavatory carriers photo above, before the bricks were put up.)
Gas Water Heaters
Two 120-gallon gas-fired water heaters will ensure the prisoners have plenty of hot water.
Hot Water Storage Tanks
The water heaters are accompanied by two 80-gallon hot water storage tanks.
Thermostatic Mixing Valve
This thermostatic mixing valve regulates the temperature of the water going out to the faucets and showers.
Electric Motorized Ball Valves
These electric motorized ball valves, operated from a remote control panel, can shut off the water supply to individual prison cells.
Penal Fixture Chase
The plumbing chase keeps the plumbing system away from the reach of prisoners. The wall sleeves have bars across them to help prevent an escape if a penal fixture were removed.
Penal Combination Lavatory / Water Closet
The vandal-resistant penal plumbing fixtures have security features which prevent contraband from being flushed into the drainage system.
