Standard water heaters use electrical elements or gas burners to heat the water.
These Amtrol "BoilerMate" Indirect Fired Water Heaters generate potable hot water from
an external non-potable hot water source... essentially hot water heating cold water!

The large insulated pipes to the right of the BoilerMates are delivering 180°F water
from the mechanical room that will heat the drinking water in these tanks.

The Leonard Thermostatic Mixing Valves regulate the
temperature of the hot water going to the residents' units.

The Bell & Gossett Hot Water Recirculation Pumps keep
water flowing through the pipes so that hot water
is always available immediately from the faucets.

consists of 180 residential units in 10 buildings.
