The Baker Pre-K Center near downtown Punta Gorda is one of the newest additions
to the Charlotte County Public School system. B & I Contractors is also currently
doing plumbing work at two other new schools in Charlotte County.

The plumbers are on lunch break now, but will be back to work soon enough.
Centex Construction is the General Contractor for this project.

Underground plumbing work in Area B consists of PVC DWV-Sch40 sanitary and vent
pipes for toilets, lavatories, and floor drains. The pipes sticking out of the ground, seen
here before the concrete is poured, will become student bathrooms in a few months.

The pipe pictured above left is for an outdoor drinking fountain; piping for a cleanout
is behind the drinking fountain inside the building. The larger pipe pictured above
right is the Area B building drain which will connect to the municipal sewer system.

B & I plumbers dig underneath a footer with the help of a mini-excavator. The Bobcat 328 from
Sunbelt Rentals is standard plumbing equipment during the underground phase.

These drain and vent pipes will be buried in dirt before the concrete floor is poured. When the
building is complete and the plumbing system is working correctly, most people will have no idea
there are thousands of feet of pipe buried below the floor.
