B&I Contractors participates in United Way’s Day of Caring

B & I Contractors joined PACE in United Way’s Days of Caring

FORT MYERS, Fla. (May 20, 2011) – Representatives of B & I Contractors Inc. management recently joined with PACE Center for Girls Inc. as part of United Way of Lee, Hendry and Glades’ Days of Caring working to assist those in the community at a time when they need it most.

B & I supported the day-long volunteer activities by bringing in their own equipment to complete a number of exterior improvement projects on PACE’s school located at 3760 Schoolhouse Road West in Fort Myers.

The project included pressure cleaning the outside of the building and the soffit at the front entry, repairing the ceiling in the outside activities area at the rear of the building and sprucing up the front entry and the rear memory garden area with mulch and natural vegetation. B & I installed natural vegetation to be more environmentally friendly as well as reduce the need for irrigation.

Home Depot donated $75 to purchase mulch and natural vegetation and Scrivner’s Garden Center donated 20 plants.

“B & I has continued to strive in a tough economy and we wanted to contribute back to the community that has helped us grow and maintain that success,” said Lee Hahn, operations manager for B & I.

PACE Center for Girls Inc., a Florida-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation, is a nonresidential delinquency prevention program targeting the unique needs of girls facing challenges such as foster care, domestic violence and drug problems.

United Way’s Days of Caring is a year-round program that connects businesses with nonprofit agencies in need of assistance. Businesses have many choices as they select projects needing support by the agencies, including the type of project, location in the community, degree of physical labor and full-day or half-day time commitment.
