Employment Opportunities In The Construction Trades


Sheetmetal Fabrication Shop Journeymen, Apprentices, Helpers
Transform flat sheets of metal and coiled metal into ductwork used in air conditioning systems. This involves using heavy duty hydraulic and electric machinery (some of it computer-driven) to apply the required seams, joints, bends, and connectors to various part of the metal to produce the ductwork.

Sheet Metal Field Installation Foremen, Journeymen, Apprentices, Helpers
Install metal duct systems that deliver air conditioning. This involves reading computer generated blueprints and use of various power tools used to lift and fasten the ductwork in place. Contact Lee Hahn.


Pipefitting Foremen, Journeymen, Apprentices and Helpers
Install piping for chilled water air conditioning systems, set up and pipe for air conditioning equipment. Work with copper, PVC and steel piping (welded victaulic and screw pipe). Occasionally, operate heavy equipment during installation of piping and setting equipment. Contact Mike Novo.


Plumbing Foremen, Journeymen, Apprentices, and Helpers
Install piping for plumbing systems to supply sewer, water and other services to plumbing fixtures such as toilets, lavatories, showers, hot water heaters, etc. Work involves installation of cast iron, steel, plastic and copper piping systems. Need basic math knowledge and ability to read blueprints. Training schools (apprenticeship classes) available to gain required knowledge while working as trainee (helper). Contact Joe Hubner.


Electrical Foremen, Journeymen, Apprentices and Helpers
Install conduit, wire, light fixtures, switchgear, motor control centers, panelboards and emergency generators for electrical systems. B & I electricians also install and service fire alarm systems, security systems and energy management systems. Training schools (apprenticeship classes) available to gain required knowledge while working as trainee (helper). Contact Bob Morrison.


Air Conditioning Senior Service Technicians
Service and repair all types of air conditioning systems, varying in size from 5 to 250 tons. Install DX (direct expansion) systems. Start up and commissioning of DX and chilled water systems. Must have at least 3 years experience and working knowledge of electrical systems, both high and low voltage, pumps and pumping principles and must have a Universal EPA Certification. Air Conditioning Apprentice Service Technicians
Perform general maintenance on air conditioning systems, including greasing, oiling, cleaning, replacing filters and assisting other service technicians on repairs, installations and start ups. Must have a basic understanding of air conditioning systems or be enrolled in a Vocational Training Course. Contact Dave Johnson.


Air Conditioning Start-Up and Commissioning Technicians
Perform start-ups and troubleshooting of air conditioning systems from 10 to 300 tons. Must have at least 5 years experience. Universal certification preferred. Contact Jack Newsom.

Project Management
Oversee commercial installation of air conditioning, plumbing and electrical systems on new and renovation construction projects. Manage the project from start to finish. This includes, but is not limited to, reviewing submittals, writing purchase orders, generating Requests For Information to owner or general contractor, communicate with customer on progress, attend progress meetings, assist in coordination of our trades and subcontractors, make sure B & I maintains construction schedule, process billings, submit change order billings for extra work, follow up with punch list items, etc.


Drafting
Produce shop drawings, which indicate sheet metal layout for air conditioning systems. Produce as-builts for air conditioning, plumbing and electrical. Must be able to read and interpret construction drawings including architectural, structural, civil, mechanical, electrical and plumbing. Company drafting employees currently use AutoCAD Release 2008 along with various add-on applications.


Office / Administrative
Office and administrative support staff are used for reception, telephone answering, clerical, project management assistance, and purchasing assistance.


Accounting
The Accounting department currently consists of positions in Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, and Controller.


Warehouse / Shipping & Receiving
Our shop employees currently receive shipments, load and unload trucks, make deliveries, maintain inventory, and perform general maintenance.
