B & I Contractors, Inc. has performed electrical contracting services for the new Woodlands Central Energy Plant Project at the Shell Point Retirement Community in Fort Myers, Florida. Shell Point is an upscale retirement community near Sanibel Island. When Shell Point began construction of their new Woodlands Community, they made the decision to invest in a Central Energy Plant to provide cooling and heating for the entire community. The Electrical scope included installation of three 5,000-amp, 3-phase, 480-volt switchboards. Two were installed under Phase I and a third under Phase II. The installation went very smooth due to the working relationship with Shell Point Retirement Community, Raytech Engineering, Square D Schneider Electric, and the local branch of Graybar Electric. When the Plant is complete there will be a total of six 5,000-amp switchboards.
