B & I Contractors, Inc., is a full service mechanical, plumbing and electrical contractor specializing in commercial, institutional and industrial new construction. B & I was established in 1960 by Gordon Harbuck and still operates under its original articles of incorporation from 1963. B & I is an
employee-owned company; in 1986, an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) was established and the ESOP now owns 95% of the corporate stock.
B & I's engineering staff include four Mechanical Engineers (BSME - two of which are Florida Registered Professional Engineers), Project Managers, and Project Coordinators to help with job coordination and documentation. The six departmental trade managers (
Pipefitting,
Plumbing,
Sheetmetal,
HVAC Service,
Electrical and
Specialized Projects) combine for over 100 years experience in the construction industry. We also currently have three full time CAD drafting stations to produce shop drawings and to design and construct engineering plans. Field personnel are included in the coordination process to assure that our installations meet the highest level of workmanship and professionalism for each project. We currently employee nearly 300 field personnel.
